Where is the program located?
Wisconsin Hoops Select is located in Southern Wisconsin, consisting of boys and girls teams in the 4th grade through High School levels. We have teams from the Southwestern to the Southeastern parts of the state (Madison area & Southeastern WI area).
Does everyone make a team that attends tryouts and evaluation sessions?
No. WHS is a very competitive program; we are looking for the serious basketball player who wants to work and elevate their game. We are not interested in the amount of teams we have, we are interested in making our players better both on and off the court.
Is playing time 50/50?
No. Playing time is dictated by your effort, attitude and attendance. No questions asked. We will not reward players that don't have the best interest of the team at hand. Coaches do their best to even out the playing time, but playing time can fluctuate game to game based on the above factors.
What if I play another sport during the spring/summer? Can I still play for WHS?
Absolutely. We ask that you make every effort to make basketball your top priority, but we totally understand there will be some conflicts. We feel it is important to have well rounded players in the program. Communication is key when conflicts arise; if considerable time is missed, playing time will be impacted.
Can I play for a competing program during the summer?
No. We work very hard to bring you the highest quality program possible. We want our players to represent our program during the spring/summer. We encourage our High School players to attend their school team functions in the month of June, when many of the off season activities take place. We tailor our schedule based on these events taking place.
Where are practices located? Will I have to drive a long way?
WHS takes the locations players are traveling from into consideration when putting together the practice schedule. WHS uses local schools to hold practice, not one central location/facility for all teams.
Do I have to attend a tryout/evaluation if I played on a team last year?
YES. WHS wants their players to work hard during the off-season, roster spots are earned and not given to players year over year. Some limited roster spots could be offered before the tryout/evaluation period begins, that is an exception only and at the discretion of the Head Coach and Program Directors.
Are Uniforms Included In the Registration Fee?
No. WHS wears UnderArmour custom uniforms that need to be purchased separately; players keep their uniform at the end of the season & can be worn the next season if they are on another WHS team.
